Upcover, Australia’s only digital-first commercial insurance broking company, has been recognised for its commitment to building an inclusive and diverse workplace, taking home the Best Workplace Diversity Award at the 2025 Finnie Awards, hosted by FinTech Australia.

The win comes amid growing momentum for Upcover, which recently secured a $19 million Series A round to expand its disruption of the $20 billion Australian commercial insurance sector.

The company credits its diverse team as a key driver of its innovation and resilience in a traditionally analog industry dominated by large incumbents.

“We’re honoured to win this year’s Finnie for diversity. It’s a milestone for Upcover and speaks to the work that we’re putting in behind the scenes," co-founder and CEO of Upcover, Skye Theodorou said.

“We’ve always been huge believers in a diverse team breeding diversity of views and solutions. We have a massive job ahead of us, being the only startup in Australia disrupting the B2B insurance sector, and diversity across our team is just one of many tactics we’re deploying to accomplish this.”

This recognition highlights Upcover’s broader mission to modernise the business insurance experience in Australia, where 95% of commercial insurance is still brokered offline.

The company’s diverse workforce has played a pivotal role in building products that resonate with a wide range of businesses, ensuring tailored insurance solutions for the modern economy.

Upcover launched in 2021 and now serves over 10,000 businesses, offering market-leading insurance products including public liability, professional indemnity, and cyber insurance, all accessible online within minutes. The company doubled its revenue last year and has helped over 1% of Australian businesses access tailored insurance solutions.
