Recently, The Multicultural Professional Network (MPN) attended the Women’s Parliamentary Thank You Reception at Parliament House, Queensland, hosted by The Hon. Fiona Simpson MP, Minister for Women and Women’s Economic Security. The event recognised the contributions of community leaders, organisations, and stakeholders involved in the statewide consultation informing Queensland’s first Women’s Economic Security Strategy.

The reception brought together representatives from government, business, and the community sector during Queensland Women’s Week 2026, themed “Shaping tomorrow together”, highlighting the shared responsibility to advance a more secure and equitable future for women and girls across the state.

Attendees heard from The Hon. David Crisafulli MP, Premier of Queensland, who emphasised the importance of recognising women’s contributions across the workforce and ensuring they are supported through targeted initiatives. He also outlined how the Strategy aims to improve outcomes in key areas including education, employment, and long-term economic security.

“MPN had the opportunity to contribute to the consultation process and connect with leaders across government and business committed to advancing women’s economic security,” said Nora Fraser, CEO of MPN.

“Accelerating action requires rethinking existing models and building new partnerships to deepen impact and scale innovation. Cities, marketplaces, and capital all have a role to play in creating inclusive opportunities for women entrepreneurs and leaders,” Fraser added.

Minister Simpson noted that long-term economic security is closely linked to community wellbeing, safety, and opportunity, and that progress will depend on continued collaboration between government and stakeholders.

MPN’s participation reflects its broader Policy Leadership initiatives, which aim to inform, influence, and enhance policy settings to advance an inclusive and equitable society. Through extensive engagement with government bodies, stakeholders, and relevant organisations, MPN actively advocates for inclusive policies and monitors their implementation.

“We look forward to continued progress on initiatives that advance a more equal and economically secure Queensland,” Fraser said.
