Business-to-business (B2B) music licensing marketplace Songtradr has partnered with an independent LA-based record that boasts an eclectic lineup of artists including Jimmy Page, Bob Marley and more for global sync services.

The deal with Cleopatra Records, primarily known for its focus on gothic and industrial music, as well as its roster of household names like Joy Division, Dolly Parton and Vanilla Ice, will give Songtradr's 800,000-plus users access to the label's music.

"We're looking forward to introducing our ever-expanding roster to the Songtradr ecosystem," Cleopatra Records owner Brian Perera said.

"The signing will provide our artists with access to a vast array of sync opportunities."

Perera was instrumental in the 1999 global hit of Funkstar Deluxe remix of Bob Marley's "Sun is Shining" which was licensed from Cleopatra's sub-label Hypnotic Records to multiple record labels around the world.

Cleopatra has also been a vital force in promoting underground and British Punk Rock bands such as The Vibrators and UK Subs and has partnered with European labels such as Lifted Music and Hard Records to establish the Hypnotic imprint for a series of electronic music compilations and full length albums by Future Sound Of London, Paul Oakenfold, and others.

More recent signings include Killing Joke drummer Big Paul Ferguson, Detroit garage rockers Electric Six, Scottish punk legends Skids, industrial project from former Marilyn Manson member Tim Skold, '90s alt-metal hitmakers Tantric, among many others.

"Cleopatra is an institution with an immensely impressive roster," Songtradr director of artist and label services David Sayer said.

"We're excited to have access to such an amazing range of artists and tracks from such a variety of genres."

For Australian-owned Songtradr the deal is the latest in a string of wins for the marketplace and follows a $66 million Series D completed just a month ago.

That raise valued the company at $397 million, and was backed by institutional investor Regal, Aware Super, Perennial, Argo and Greencape.
