A Perth-based software startup bringing the sharing economy to electric vehicle (EV) chargers has raised $2 million in a pre-seed round for the Wevolt offering to open up transmission nationwide.
The software provides an innovative, easy-to-use, payment system for residential and commercial charge point owners, with Wevolt CEO Jagroop Gill noting it is now in the final stages of beta testing and has started receiving transaction fees from chargers in Perth.
The funding will support the startup's ambitious plans to grow and increase accessibility to Australia’s EV charging network through convenient access to AC and DC charging ports, encouraging the sharing of chargers with the community through a people-powered solution.
"Wevolt was founded in 2022 to fill Australia’s EV infrastructure gap," Gill says.
"We have been pleased by the interest received from charge point management companies and have already entered into commercial agreements. It will be an honour to officially launch into the local EV market in August and witness the positive impact of our cutting-edge technology."
Leveraging digital mapping, the platform provides EV drivers with access to detailed charging information, making it easy to locate a convenient, reliable charging station. Meanwhile, charge point owners can self-manage the use of their chargers and receive real-time payments.
