Consumer brands group OMG Group (ASX: OMG) has boosted annual net sales by 57 per cent to $6.2 million on a moving annual turnover (MAT) basis as surging demand for matcha products helped power what the company describes as one of its strongest trading months in its history.

May alone delivered net sales of about $650,000, up 75 per cent on the same month last year, with ecommerce the standout channel.

Online sales hit around $2.4 million on a MAT basis, up 87 per cent, while May ecommerce revenue surged 132 per cent on the prior corresponding period.

The update comes as OMG ramps up its matcha ambitions following the arrival in Australia of its first shipment of ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha under an exclusive five-year supply agreement with SANDAI Group, which provides access to up to 350,000 kilograms of matcha per annum.

The company has launched a dual-brand matcha platform to attack both ends of the market - Omura Matcha targeting the premium and ceremonial segment, and Matcha Mode pitched at mass-market consumers.

Food & Dairy Co has been signed as the first distributor, covering more than 2,000 cafés and restaurants across NSW and Queensland.

Omura Matcha exhibited at the inaugural Café & Coffee Show held at ICC Sydney from 25 to 27 May 2026, giving the brand its first major trade exposure to the Australian foodservice channel.

The matcha push taps into a global trend that shows no signs of slowing with Australia identified as one of the most advanced markets for matcha in foodservice.

“May was one of the strongest trading months in OMG Group’s history and shows the continued progress being made across the business," says OMG CEO Alex Aleksic.

"These numbers reflect genuine commercial momentum across the business, with the digital channel scaling and compounding. Importantly, this growth is being supported by clear commercial execution."

OMG, which appointed former Test cricketer Steve Smith as non-executive director in April, also owns the Blue Dinosaur snack bar brand, which has secured a new distribution deal with Chemist Warehouse in New Zealand.

OMG sees the New Zealand agreement as a "meaningful step" in the international expansion of the Blue Dinosaur brand by adding a new retail channel complementary to the company's existing grocery, petrol and convenience and ecommerce distribution.

"Blue Dinosaur has secured national ranging with Chemist Warehouse New Zealand, our first SANDAI matcha shipment has landed in Australia, and the Omura Matcha brand is now being introduced directly to the café and hospitality buyers we are targeting," says Aleksic.

"The business is entering FY27 with a broader distribution footprint, growing ecommerce scale and a matcha platform that is now moving from launch phase into commercial fulfilment."

The news builds on momentum from OMG's expanded Woolworths relationship as three new Oat Milk Goodness PrOATein flavours - including a Matcha & Strawberry SKU using SANDAI-sourced matcha - have won national ranging across all 943 Woolworths stores, embedding the company's matcha supply chain into mainstream grocery retail.
