Oasis Dental, which began as a humble clinic at the Oasis Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast, is set to cross state lines with the upcoming launch of its seventh location in Melbourne, marking a major step in its national expansion.
The latest clinic is slated to open on July 7 in the north-eastern suburb of Brighton, offering locals both cosmetic and surgical procedures delivered by two experienced co-principals, each specialising in different areas of care.
Founded in 2009 by Andrew Firgaira, the long-standing business has operations across Queensland and New South Wales, including clinics in Broadbeach, Palm Beach, Chirn Park, Ferry Road, West End and Pottsville. The company also has a licensing agreement to run a clinic in Slovenia, where one of the Gold Coast dentists is originally from.
Depending on the location and dentist’s specialisation, Oasis Dental offers a comprehensive list of services, ranging from children’s dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, general dentistry, orthodontics to emergency services and more.
Speaking to Business News Australia, Firgaira shared how the latest opening will mark Oasis Dental’s first foray into Victoria – a state he intended to launch in years ago before his plans were thwarted by COVID-19.
“Each time we've picked a new location, it's always been supported by having someone who we know well, who's a really great dentist and who believes in what we do. That's always made it easy and so the newest site that we're going to be opening is in Brighton, Melbourne,” he said.
“I always believe that if you've got good people working with you, there's no point shrinking that - you've got an opportunity to grow with them. That's where we started opening up new sites.”
“It continued further, because we not only had good dentists working with us within the group, but then we had dentists who had worked with us, but weren't local to the Gold Coast.
To operate the existing clinics, Oasis Dental owns at least 51 per cent of all sites in the partnerships, with the model currently under review to start scaling up expansion from 2026.
When asked about what the new clinic’s offering, Firgaira noted that two dentists would be running the practice, both specialising in different areas – aesthetics and surgical procedures.
“Melbourne is certainly going to be very focused on high-end aesthetic, rehabilitative and surgical practice. Dr Bharat Agrawal’s main area is within aesthetic dentistry - so Invisalign bonding, veneers, aesthetic rehabs for patients who can keep their teeth,” Firgaira explained.
“We have another partner joining us down there who effectively fills my shoes. He's got virtually identical training to mine in dental implantology, which means that he manages the surgical side of cases. Between the two of them, what they've got covered as the two co-principals for Melbourne is any form of complex rehabilitative treatment or aesthetic treatment.”
Firgaira also notes that he doesn’t have his sights set on any other new locations this year, but that the business will be refined to enable more efficient expansion in the future.
“We've got a lot of dentists who are keen to work with us,” he said.
“What we're doing is looking at how we're going to restructure to be able to facilitate opening further sites more broadly through Australia.”
