NRMA Parks & Resorts has snapped up a bustling holiday park in coastal New South Wales, acquiring the Blue Dolphin Holiday Resort from the Mitchell family in a deal reportedly worth $40 million.
Based in Yamba, the resort is spread across 5.82 hectares of land and includes 300 metres of Clarence River frontage. The site has a wide range of accommodations and facilities, including options like waterfront and poolside villas, cabins, and caravan and camping sites.
According to the AFR, title documents showed that the property was acquired for $40 million, while a separate undisclosed amount was paid for the operating business.
The deal comes six months since the Mitchell family also sold Angourie Resort & Spa to NRMA Parks & Resorts for an undisclosed sum. The site is located just a five-minute drive away from the latest acquisition.
NRMA Parks & Resorts Chief Executive Officer Paul Davies said the addition of the Blue Dolphin to the portfolio was a new jewel in the organisation’s holiday offering.
“Many of us who have enjoyed holidays on the New South Wales north coast or who have been on road trips over generations will be familiar with the friendly Blue Dolphin sign in the waterfront centre of Yamba,” Davies said.

NRMA Parks and Resorts is a wholly-owned business of The NRMA, one of Australia's largest member-owned organisations with 2.6 million members and close to 100 years of expertise in travel and motoring.
The NRMA operates an extensive network of caravan and camping parks as well as boutique resorts, such as Turtle Sands in Queensland, which is slated to open in four months. Other destinations operated by the group include Strahan Village, Pumphouse Point, Freycinet Lodge and Cradle Mountain Hotel in Tasmania.
Before the sale, The Blue Dolphin resort had been owned and operated by the Mitchell family for the last 34 years.
