National accounting company Carbon Group has acquired its second firm of 2025 to date, forging a partnership with fellow Perth-based bookkeeping firm The Outsource Group to further expand its presence in Western Australia.

Like its acquisition of Adelaide-based KPI Business Advisory in January, which also was for an undisclosed sum, the latest deal is aimed at strengthening Carbon Group's growing bookkeeping and chief financial officer (CFO) services division.

"The Outsource Group team is a fantastic cultural fit for Carbon," says Carbon Group partner Dale Ettridge.

"They’re switched on, client-focused and genuinely care about the work they do. We’re excited to have them on board."

Carbon Group claims both firms share a hands-on approach to client service and a passion for helping small businesses thrive, and have been collaborating "behind the scenes" for the past year.

"We’ve built our business on practical advice, genuine relationships and helping clients make smarter decisions," says The Outsource Group director Craig Rappeport.

"Joining forces with Carbon allows us to stay true to that mission, with the added strength of a national team behind us."

The Outsource Group's team of four has officially joined Carbon Group’s Osborne Park office, where around 100 of the group's 260 staff nationwide are based.

The acquired company's clients will continue working with the same people but now with a broader support network.

Carbon Group was founded in 2014 by Jamie Davison and Nathan Hood with a vision to shake up Australia's traditional accounting firm model, helping small businesses find holistic professional advice and incentivising partners around not only their own performance but that of their clientele.

It is a model that has been replicated around the country as the company, whose founders are former Australian Young Entrepreneur Awards finalists and Australia's Top 100 Young Entrepreneurs listers, grows its footprint and talent base.

Last year Carbon Group opened its sixth Queensland office in Toowoomba through a partnership with Noye Partners, following a busy 2023 involving numerous acquisitions across QLD, NSW, VIC and WA, including Legal Practice Management, Keeping Numbers, Kensington Financial Group, Harding Martin, Numeric 8, Ezetax, MG Partners and Davenports, Integrity Wealth, and Rad Bookkeeping & Business Solutions.
