A Sydney startup harnessing AI to help oncologists with insights for patient care has raised $25 million in a Series B round, as Lumonus looks to build on a global footprint that already includes health systems in Australia, the United States and Europe.

Funds from the round, led by Aviron Investment Management and with continued participation from Oncology Ventures, will be allocated for go-to-market and clinical success teams in the US, investing in clinical informatics capabilities, and advancing the company's flagship products Lumonus AI Physician and Lumonus AI Dosimetry.

To date the platform has supported clinicians in consulting and prescribing more than 280,000 cancer treatments, and has automated the creation of more than 75,000 cancer treatment plans.

Lumonus claims these figures demonstrate the technology's impact in streamlining critical oncology workflows and improving the efficiency and consistency of care.

"Oncology is at an inflection point," says Lumonus chief executive officer Keith Hansen.

"Scientific innovation in cancer treatment has advanced significantly, but the systems that support teams delivering the care have not kept pace."

Hansen says the investment allows Lumonus to expand its "world-class team and support more health systems that are ready to embrace a better way".

"By combining AI-native architecture, a comprehensive end-to-end workflow approach, and a commitment to partnering with care teams to solve real-world pain points, we are reimagining oncology workflows," Hansen says.

The company's chairman Merrick Howes says the funding milestone reflects the dedication of the entire Lumonus team who have worked side by side with clinicians worldwide to demonstrate real impact in oncology, showing "what the future of cancer care can be".

"Our unique AI-native platform has already demonstrated its ability to improve clinical quality and operational efficiency," Howes says.

"This new capital will allow us to accelerate both product innovation and expand our US commercial footprint."

Oncology Ventures managing partner Ben Freeberg says the Lumonus team combines "deep clinical expertise with world-class product execution", highlighting the company has already earned the trust of leading cancer centres internationally.

"We are proud to support Lumonus as they continue to deliver measurable impact and set the standard for the future of oncology workflows," Freeberg says.
