Melbourne-based JET Charge has announced the successful supply and installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging hardware at 244 Toyota dealerships across every state and territory, through a partnership that coincided with the Japanese carmaker's flagship battery EV model.

The deployment took place over 18 months across metropolitan and rural dealerships, with JET Charge claiming it now represents the biggest EV dealer charging network in the country.

JET Charge co-founder Tim Washington says the nationwide charging solution has ensured the market entry of Toyota's flagship battery electric vehicle (BEV) has been "as smooth as possible".

"Between 8-10 per cent of all new car sales in Australia are hybrid or EV, so it is essential that Toyota dealers are confident in selling this new technology and able to provide customers with the same ease-of-purchase as with any vehicle purchase," says Washington.

JET Charge claims its multi-faceted and unique approach to the launch of a new BEV, gives dealers the confidence to sell EVs in a booming EV market and provides customers with a charging solution that removes uncertainty from the equation.

JET Charge also ensured that Toyota customers have a convenient and seamless pathway to at-home EV charging. As Toyota’s approved aftermarket supplier of EV hardware, JET Charge supplies two charging cables with each BEV sold.

Toyota Australia vice president of sales and marketing, Sean Hanley, says the partnership with JET Charge further underlines Toyota’s commitment to decarbonisation.

"By investing in charging facilities at 244 metro and rural locations across the country, our Dealers have been well equipped to support the sale and service of battery-electric vehicles," says Hanley, adding at least two more BEVs are set to be launched by the end of 2026.

"This charging network is an important way to help our customers lower tailpipe carbon emissions and ensure no-one is left behind."
