Queensland Italian food dining icon Gemelli's is branching out with the opening of a new gelateria today in the heart of the Nobby’s Beach Oxley precinct, adding to its offering of four restaurants on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.

The Gemelli restaurant group believes Gelato Gemelli epitomises the focus on authenticity, flavour and quality it is known for at its existing locations - Gemelli Broadbeach, Gemellini by Gemelli at Nobby's, Roy's by Gemelli in Sorrento, and Gemelli James Street in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.

Alec Carney, one of the three brothers from Griffith, NSW who founded Gemelli's more than a decade ago, says the new gelateria is a celebration of the culture and food that embodies the founders' Italian upbringing.

"We’ve been a part of the Nobby’s Beach dining scene for well over half a decade now with Gemellini’s and we cannot wait to showcase authentic Italian Gelati right at the very heart of one of the city’s most vibrant dining precincts," says Carney.

"Everything that we value as a family around lifestyle, food and family is represented by Gelato Gemelli and we cannot wait to serve our handmade creations using only the freshest quality ingredients to customer across the Christmas and New Year period and over the summer."

Gemelli means 'twins' in Italian, in reference to twins Alec and James who founded the company with their older brother Paul as a director.

The three brothers recently won the 2024 Australian Young Entrepreneur Award - Hospitality & Tourism, which they also won in 2022.
