NEW YACHT TO DEBUT EXCLUSIVELY AT GOLD COAST EXPO

WHITEHAVEN Motor Yachts are set to unveil their new Coupe 6000 at the Gold Coast International Marine Expo in May.

Whitehaven founder Keith Haven says he wants to premiere the new model on the Gold Coast after the successful debut of the Flybridge 6000 at the 2014 Expo.

"I opted for the Expo again this year because that's where I see my market [and] because they looked after me so well last year," he says.

The three-cabin, two-bathroom Coupe 6000 includes a 450kg hydraulic lift swim platform and a stern garage that can easily hold a three-seat jet ski.

The Expo will announce further displays over the next 16 weeks, and has already sold more than 50 per cent of its outdoor exhibitor space.

Its move from September to May, however, brings it into competition with the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and the Riviera Festival of Boating.

The Boat Show runs simultaneously to the Expo, while the Riviera Festival starts and finishes one day later than the others.

Despite the clash, the Marine Expo's Events and Marketing Manger Emma Milne says the event will attract "boaties" from interstate and overseas.

"Keith Hanson is widely respected in the industry so it is quite an endorsement to host the world release of his first two beautiful boats," she says.

The Expo is based at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct, where over 13,000 boats are manufactured each year and over 2000 people are employed.

It will run from May 21 to May 24.
