KIWIS BITE MANGOES

QUEENSLAND’S mango exports to New Zealand were up 103 per cent in November, as record numbers of Kiwis continue to sink their teeth into our tropical primary asset.

Local Government Minister Desley Boyle, says New Zealand is growing into a leading market for the fruit with recent growth making it a larger market than Singapore.

“New Zealand is a growing market for Australian mango exports — around 175 tonnes were exported to the country in the period from October to November last year,” says Boyle.

“This represents an increase of around 103 per cent for the same period in the previous year and it doesn’t even account for growth during the peak mango season which runs from December through January.

“The Kensington Pride and R2E2 mangoes, two of Queensland’s most popular varieties, are being strongly promoted by some of New Zealand’s largest supermarket chains.”
