PAPUA New Guinea continues to be a prime source of offshore opportunity for Australian businesses, and now an annual conference is set to discuss how companies can tap its potential even when times are tough.
The 33rd annual Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum, held this year in Port Moresby, will discuss PNG's strong economic position amid a challenging climate.
The conference theme entitled 'Navigating the Cycle: Creating Opportunities in Challenging Times' will deliver the message that PNG is positioning itself for future growth, leveraging its own unique advantages for the benefit of its locals.
Business leaders who attend the conference are expected to walk away with an in depth understanding of PNG's position, particularly in regard to business and investment.
The program includes several expert presentations on doing business with PNG, including topics on international trade, agriculture and the power industry.
Key ministers from both countries including PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill and Steven Ciobo, Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment will also be sharing their own insight at the event.
This year at the Stanley International Hotel and Suites, the signature Trade Expo for Australian and Papua New Guinean companies will also take place as part of the Forum.
The popular expo gives delegates a chance to market their own goods and services to an internationally diverse consumer base.
Organisers say the event is an unparalleled chance for attendees to broaden their knowledge of PNG and its economic opportunities.
"Outcomes from the meeting include better insights into business and investment opportunities available through further developing the bilateral business and investment relationships, including through contacts made with other business people," the official release states.
"Business groups in each country will present to government issues of policy change and administrative action needed to facilitate bilateral business and investment growth."
