BORAL has launched Supreme Court action against Jacqueline Taylor just weeks after her husband David's death, leaving behind his young family and an estimated $7.5 million in debts.
The building products company, which has an annual turnover of almost $5 billion, wants the Taylor house sold to recover a $129,000 debt. Boral filed the Supreme Court claim against Jacqueline Taylor and her late husband’s estate last month, four days after liquidators were appointed to Taylor’s building company DTBS Pty Ltd, one of the Gold Coast’s biggest builders and a major sponsor of the Titans.
Boral claims the Taylors gave personal guarantees as part of a confidential credit agreement. Boral says the deal indemnified it against all losses, costs, charges and expenses and says it is owed more than $126,000 for materials supplied to DTBS late last year. It is also demanding almost $3000 in legal fees. DTBS’ 35 staff were sacked with the appointment of liquidators.
